There were no bodies at the Upjohn Morgue, just surplus
equipment, but it was a real part of Upjohn life in the 1970s and
80s. Back then it was in Building 190, which was located on
Mastenbrook Road next to the airport. In the early 1980s I had reason to go and look through
it a number of times for some pieces of
equipment now long forgotten. Alas, one day in the 1990s it was
discovered that drug dealers around town were weighing out their
product using old Upjohn analytical balances. An investigation
showed the supervisor of the morgue was selling them to the
dealers and his employment at Upjohn ended abruptly.
