Playing in company sports teams was a big part of working at The Upjohn Company from its earliest days right up to the end in 1995. Some teams were from different departments within the company and played each other. Other teams represented Upjohn in city leagues. Successful teams in the city leagues would have gone on to regional and even national competitions, all paid for by Upjohn. I remember in the 1980s there was a manager and secretary whose sole job was to organize the sports program. Here are some trophies that have come my way.

Below - these two softball trophies are from the early 1940s. All Upjohn facilities would have been downtown then except the warehouses on N. Pitcher. The one on the right says "Upjohn Mens Softball League. Runner-Up: 1941 Shipping Dept, 1942 Warehouse. They are in my collection.

Below - this is a bowling trophy awarded to the UFOs for runner-up in the Upjohn Tuesday Men's League #3, 1990-1991. This league was at Airway Lanes. Just between you and me, the team name UFOs stood for the Upjohn F*ck Offs.
