The Upjohn Licence Plates

Buzz Wright was a technician in the Control Division for 29 years. One of his girlfriends, Gayle, worked at the Secretary of State in Portage. In the mid-1980s, a series of Michigan automobile plates with UPJ on them were available for use at any Secretary of State offices. She pulled some strings to have all the UPJ plates distributed in the Kalamazoo and Portage offices only. There would have been 999 of these plates. The availability of this plate was communicated in Upjohn so any employee could ask for a UPJ plate. Thank you John Vanderbilt and Peggy Hamlin for the two below. If you have a UPJ plate send me a photo of it.

In the 1980s a salesman in Pennsylvania used this XANAX license plate on his company car.

This UPJOHN Michigan license plate has been on my Jeep since 2018.

Jim Munson, the last VP of Upjohn Control, had a KTQU (Keep The Quality Up) licence plate on his vehicle. Steve Grieve currently has one on his vehicle. Here are Jim's and Steve's plates.

And finally these Upjohn plates in North Carolina, 1971 and Indiana 1980.
