Construction of a CENTER FOR ADVANCED STERILE TECHNOLOGY (CAST) in Portage was approved in the final years of the Upjohn Company. It was located in the North-West corner of Building 41. It included innovative and cutting-edge technology. It was approved by FDA in 2000 but alas, we couldn't make all that cutting-edge technology work. No product made in CAST was ever sold. Fortunately the facility was rebuild as Aseptic Processing North (APN), which is heavily used today.
