The Jasper Clinical Investigation Center, located at Bronson Hospital in Downtown Kalamazoo, opened in 1983. There was already a smaller Upjohn clinical investigation unit at Bronson since 1973 but this new facility added greatly to it. Employees could and did volunteer to be human guinea pigs for new Upjohn drugs being investigated. Other volunteers were used, too. All volunteers were financially compensated. This clinic was sold to MPI Research in 2014.
