Since there were already Upjohn human pharmaceutical product listings that
covered 1886 to 1956, Carol Orris and I decided that we
would cover those products from 1957 to the end of The Upjohn
Company in 1995. That meant the entire human pharmaceutical product history of the
company would be available.
How did we do this? Because we are both long retired, we
don't have access to any Pfizer in-house historical document collections or
databases. We relied primarily upon old Upjohn product catalogs and price
lists used by the sales forces. Each one has a complete list of
human healthcare products. These publications are relatively common and we
already had a collection of them from different years. Local public
libraries had copies from other years so we were confident we
had a good backbone of Upjohn product information. We also
looked in annual reports and issues of The Intercom.

We started building our human pharmaceutical product listing in spreadsheet
format at the end of
December 2024 and by mid-February we had enough to post the 1957-1995 listing on this website.
It's not finished. We still have to get specific
dates for every product in the listing. We haven't tried to cover
veterinary or other types of Upjohn products. Those projects may or may not come
later.
